This month is all about our Stafford, VA office and their excellent cleanup of 1,000 gallons of glycol!

Glycol is an organic compound that falls within the alcohol family. It is commonly found in antifreeze, coolants, solvents, and moisture-retaining agents used in both industrial and consumer applications. This chemical can wreak havoc on the environment by drastically depleting oxygen levels in water, negatively impacting entire ecosystems. It can also be toxic to various forms of wildlife.

Because of the environmental risks and the potential impact on local waterways, our Stafford crew was quick to respond to the scene. After holding a safety meeting and donning the proper PPE, the team got to work. They began by securing the scene. The crew then applied granular sorbents to the impacted areas. These sorbents were worked into the affected surfaces to absorb the released product before being swept up and drummed for proper disposal.

Great work to our Stafford team, made up of Manager Crystal Graves and Technicians David Jones, Elizabeth Long, and Daniel Sullivan!
