In May OSHA pushed out a new initiative called the “safety shuffle”.

This is a unique shift where employers challenge higher level managers to ‘swap’ jobs with those boots on the ground folks. This will hopefully provide a better understanding of hazards in the workplace.

OHSA’s idea will attempt to capture the following:

  • Reveal frequent/daily hazards.
  • Help foster skills and provide an opportunity to learn from folks in the field.
  • Create coaching opportunities from management.
  • Provide opportunities for managers to recognize and fix hazards they may not have seen before.

We applaud the initiative and are hopeful that it will foster new ideas from all sides.
