On August 9th through the 11th, Myrtle Beach opened its doors for all walks of environmental professionals for the South Carolina Environmental Conference at the Sheraton Convention Center. First Call Environmental was an exhibitor as we showcased how our business and service offerings could help statewide facilities and government authorities in their respective fields.
This was also a chance for some friendly competition among some of the country wide waste water and safety personnel. There were hydrant tapping, pipe cutting, and Confined space rescue scenarios that were exacted with extreme precision to ensure a time could be set that no one else could beat. There were also laboratory testing challenges that could not be forgotten as these tests could not be met with failure. Then to top it off, a favorite of the conference, is the best tasting water event from statewide water treatment plants.
On the networking side, there were hundreds of representatives showcasing their company’s products and services to the public. With those hundreds of representatives, what seemed like every plant manager and environmentally responsible person from every city showed up to the conference to see what new products were in the field or being designed and built. These individuals came in to talk shop with companies that could help them out with their needs. Whether it meant getting new spill supplies, inquiring about a new contractor to help with their needs, or just asking industry questions, the environment was ripe with information and shared by all.
Some of the notable presenters and attendees were SC811 with their growing list of contractors on their website to provide the public with safety information and resources. AECOM provided lunch and the Charleston Water System sponsored several areas of the conference. Many companies helped to ensure the conference went off with a bang and it shows. The South Carolina Environmental Conference was a huge success and First Call Environmental looks forward to attending again next year!
