Our Southern team recently responded to a major emergency in Columbia, South Carolina following a tractor-trailer accident involving a significant release of hydrogen peroxide. Approximately 11 totes of a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide mix were compromised during the wreck, with multiple totes bursting inside the trailer and two breaching through the nose.

Teams from our Columbia and Savannah offices mobilized quickly, working alongside the Dorchester County Fire Department to bring the situation under control. Under the strong leadership of Regional Manager Daryl Roberts, the response was coordinated, efficient, and highly professional.

This large-scale event required extensive equipment and manpower, with crews working nearly 13 hours from start to finish. It also served as a valuable learning opportunity for newer team members, with detailed activity logs, strict adherence to PPE protocols, and exceptional documentation throughout.

We’re proud of everyone involved for their professionalism, safety-first mindset, and teamwork. This response truly showcases the strength of our Southern region in managing complex emergencies safely, effectively, and efficiently.
