First Call’s New Kensington, Pennsylvania field office was dispatched to an incident involving a punctured 55 gallon drum in a trailer. The material had leaked from the trailer and was carried by heavy rains into a storm drain and ultimately into a retention pond.

The spilled material was heavier than water and was accumulating on the bottom of the pond. After consulting with the customer, State regulator and the owner of the pond, it was decided that the pond would need to be drained in order to effectively remove the material. First Call mobilized several 21K portable tanks and large volume pumps. The pond was drained into the tanks, samples were taken and analyzed to ensure no further removal was required. Once results were obtained and approved by State regulators, the waste material was transported for disposal and the tanks cleaned and removed, restoring the site to pre-spill conditions.
